Savage 340's use a mount similar to that. It's been about 25 years since I've seen one and can't remember what they look like. I had an 03 Springfield that had 4 holes drilled in the side of the action for a scope but did not come with the scope mount.

Winchester 88 and 100s used a side mount similar to this also

    .

IMO, it looks like a (Havlins ?) side mount adaptor (side to top mount) with aftermarket (Phillips head) screws installed in aftermarket rings.

If it's a Weaver, there should be a Weaver number or combination letter/number on it.

This chart has the Weaver base and bracket numbers: http://www.weaveroptics.com/rings_ba...s/side_mounts/

Rings are wrong for Weaver. Don't think it's for 340 because base appears to be for flat sided reciever.

Can't tell from the photo, but the military SKS had a feature on the left side of the receiver to accept a slide mounted scope attachment. No real info here, just another direction for you to pursue. Good luck.

I sold two rifles (mod 340) in 2015, both with The Weaver side mounts...while your mount looks similar, it ain't exactly the same as the two I had...BTW, the two I had were not identical to each other, one was angled back for closer eye relief...and had differently placed mounting holes, so I wasn't able to swap them between the two guns I owned.

The four large Philips screws don't look like they'd be original...looks like Bubba got 'em at the local hardware store. If it looks like it'll fit a curved receiver cover (like on a SKS), then I'd suspect someone had it mounted on a SKS, even if it was originally designed for something else.
    That's my 2˘

Can't help with the brand but the hole pattern is similar to the hole in my Winchester 71. As JonB stated if it is for a round receiver it could fit any number of older receivers. If flat the same is true. Before 1950 or so scopes were the exception not the rule. Many makes made mounts for all sorts of guns that required a Smith to drill and tap holes. And while we wring our hand and grind our teeth at those, now collectable, old guns with holes in them, back in the day they were just guns and you did what you must to make them do the job you wanted.

yea.. i got these thinking they might work in a Swiss, but when they arrived, there aint no way.. then I eyeballed them to an old 94 i had, and that aint gunna work neither.. i could shorten them a bit and get em to work, but was just wondering if it might come in handy to just hang on to them, maybe I would happen into a gun they might work on...they only cost me 3 bucks.

Could be an old Kwick Site base and rings. I have one for a '94 Winchester and the offset rings look the same, except for the Phillips dry wall screws. In my case the rings and base are all one piece except for the top rings. Frank
