    I'm impressed with PC

Went out last Sunday and shot for accuracy and chronographed some loads.
I have a Wildcat I built, the best accuracy I got from it before was 3" at 50 yrds
and 1820 FPS with light leading. I picked up a Lyman 457406 some time don't remember where or when.

    Well Sunday I got this.

Agreed. Casting and powdercoating have been a tremendous boon for me and my shooting. Nice groups. Post a pic of the rifle!

Must be clear powder coating? Give us some 411 on the wildcat and rifle. I'll bet you could clean Lamar's clock with that kind of accuracy

Not that it would take much!
    Hell, I was there!

You've cought me at a bad time, went camping last weekend and sanded all the old finish off.
I'll get a nekid picture tomorrow.

I bought a Siamese Mauser chambered in 45-70 decades ago.
I ordered a carbine from Navy Arms. It had problems seems the front sight screw went all the way into the bore. The LGS sent it back but they didn't have another carbine so I got a rifle.
I had nothing but trouble with it feeding and retaining cartridges in the mag when cycling the bolt.

I still had the big bore bug.

Later I read an article about the 458X2'' by Will Hafler titled "The Bestest Brush Gun".
He talked about a rifle he built on a Rem #600 20 inch barrel with a long throat and a 1 in 14" twist.
Said cast loads were hard to develop due to the fast twist and long throat. He also talked about using 350 Rem Mag brass trimmed to 2".

I figured the belted cartridge would work in a bolt gun better than rimmed.
I also thought that since this is my build why trim the extra brass off?
The caliber is 350 Rem Mag necked to 458 "45-350".
I bought some P14 Enfield actions long a go when they were cheap. Bolt face is right and changed the mag box and follower to a 1917 Enfield.
Figured if the 350 case didn't work I could chamber to 458 Win Mag, plus I wasn't limited in OAL.
I did the action work, opened the bottom of the feed rails to retain the cylindrical round and worked the feed ramp. The rifle feeds flawless.
Made a D reamer and throater. Used a Richards Micro fit stock (never again) w blind mag.
Barrel is a Douglas 1X22 twist made with a short throat since I have longer cases.

I form cases the COW method and get cases that when cleaned up are 2.170".
I also think the reason I don't get better accuracy with 500 grain bullets is it beats the crap out of me on the bench.

The above load is a 457406 Lyman, Smokes transparent copper and 49 grains Reloader 7. at 50 yards.
Speed is 1902 FPS that's 4130 FP's energy with a cast 16 to 1 alloy boolet and low pressure signs.

    So its a 3” 458.

My friend has a 2” 458 and its one of his favorites for plinkin and cast bullet launchin. Its easy shooter as its such a big gun!

Good deal on the CB that are PC! I shoot some plain base 300’s from my 450 BM in a bolt to 16-1900 fps and have never seen leading.

Nope it's a 458 x 2.170", if he would've put a wider belt and trimmed .070" inches off he could have called it the 450 Marlin

I put up a .450 Marlin in a P14 with a Richards stock too. AA wood but took a lot of work to even it up. I guess I decided I didn’t need to launch that much lead so I traded it. Man, I’m dumb.
Oh yes, I’m a newbie at PC and I’m liking it as well. I still like LLA too, though.
