Ten four to that. We knew whose land to just keep floating by and whose land we could camp on overnight. One old cuss we didn't know heard us shooting and came down yelling for us to get out of "his river". I said sure, when we reach the Gulf of Mexico! He was not amused, we never even stopped. About 45 years ago- seems like yesterday!

Trinity river....my best friend and I used to cruise it on our days off from work. Get on it in riverside where 19 crossed. Living and working in Huntsville gave us lots of water fun for years back in the eighties. Lots os snakes, that's for sure.

I have cut off a ton of shotguns of all kinds. I bought a new Rigid Pipe cutter years ago for dedicated shotgun barrel cutting. Have the Muzzel cutters with pilot for 20 & 12 g. I have tried to put some choke in cut off barrels with home made rollers that replace cutter wheel. I've had no sucess. I did manage to reduce bore diameters by careful and measured applications. What I ended up with was a ruined pattern. Brownells sells a roller choke swage but it pricey and I can do without it. A lot of my cut off jobs were to make slug guns. Guys would pick up a good gun cheap, many would have a Cutts or Poly Choke. I always saved these and put one on a Savage 220 that had a buldge from 16"-19". Couldn't just cut it off and have legal gun. I silvered Cutts on it and with full choke tube it shot a nice FC pattern. I have another Cutts magnesium 12g that I am saving for a nice SB that I can cut to length of 18" including Cutts. The regulations on shotgun barrel length include choke if it is permantly fixed ( soldered, brazed ect) If it can be unscrewed it is illegal. So you can only count the choke housing not the screw in choke inserts. I always cut barrels to 18.25" at shortest to avoid any trouble with NFA rules. If I was still in business I would invest in reamer and tap for screw in chokes, that's the easiest way to go. I bought a mint 97 Win dirt cheap that Bubba ruined the barrel. I was able to save almost 24" when cut off. It was so nice I was making a slug gun and took to smith to have him silver the sights on without damaging the blue. He knows about my hybrid slug guns and talked me into screw in chokes instead of rifle sights. He had just gotten tooling and wanted to try it out. Glad I did, gun is excellent shooter with Turkey Choke tube.
