Did you ever find a decent '73?

Alot of people are mentioning 94's. I didnt know that many people collected them as they are so popular. Probably one of the most owned rifles with the 336, i didnt think it was one of the most collected too!

I thought that too the only ones I was thinking of were the more common 1950-1964 models. then I learned about the early model 94. the variations are endless. I have 10 carbines no two are alike. there are different sights short tang long tang flat band round band different but plates. then if you find one like I have. it looks like a well used standard model carbine but it has the flying bomb and stamped u.s. government property n.w.m.p.

then you get into the rifles.

Two Marlin 39s, two 336s (.30-30 & a .35 Rem which was Dad's last deer rifle), two very early 99s.

Never could warm up to Winchesters, but do have one Browning 92 replica, .32-20.

    No pics - sorry.

Can't really consider it a collection, but three Winchester lever actions live here: a Model 1873 chambered for .38 W.C.F.; a Model 1895 chambered for the short-lived .30 Gov't 1903; and a Miroku Model 1895 chambered for .30-06.

I'm not much of a Lever guy. Here is my Marlin 24" 44 mag. I would like to add a bighorn armory in 500 SW. I'm partial to pistol grip stocks

marlin models didnt think it was one of the most collected too!
They aren't ~~ yet. Oh there are a few 336 preferred models. And those older models made before the 336. 1893-1936-36 & those 35 Rem cartridge shooters all have a following including those pre-button J-engraved models too. Otherwise the newer marlins are worth 1/2 their retail price or less. Than again the value of anything "is seen in the eyes of the beholder."
The only reason pre-64 Win's and Savage's 99s are indeed collectable. There no longer made. Otherwise the 94 Win is without a doubt one bad-news shoulder bruiser.

We choose the value of everything. Imagine everyone waking up and feeling like old stuff isn't worth anything so all our old guns would be 100$

I like it. The 44 is a great lever cartridge.
I need to get it out more. The 24" Oct barrel is great for offhand shooting. It just doesn't make it to the range very often. I'm thinking about ordering a Skinner sights for it.

I have the 1895 round barrel. It had the cancer safety on it. So i got the daftey delete, buffed out the huge warning on the barrel and added a sling. I like old guns better, but i would say this marlin is my least favorite. It's a shame I can see the machine marks on the boot and receiver. The finish just isn't there. My wood is nice though.
