The K10 on my Tikka 22-250 testing loads. Box test? No problem. I wish I still had the T10 Weaver. Probably the best scope I ever owned. Used it for a few years before a silhouette shooter offered $50 profit to buy it.

The J scopes were set for minimum parallax at 100 yards, as well as having decent eye relief. Definitely meant for deer rifles, not .22s.

Texas, I bought a T6 in 1978 and had it on a 788 in 223. Foolishly I sold both, thought I got a good price. Thought I could find something better, I was wrong on both counts.

I always liked the fact that the Old ElPaso Weavers held zero, and were of a simple design, but I have had two that have had the ocular lens gcome loose in.I guess that just comes with age,and I do like them for nostalgia, but I no longer hunt with any.

I still run several on hunting guns and have repaired several. Pro tip if you like the old k series start glomming onto a few older junk tasco pronghorns as well. The reticle ring out of them is just the right size to epoxy into the brass reticle ring of the weaver. Sure beats trying to resolder those spiderweb thick steel wires that make up the old weaver reticle. Never could get them tight enough to work so I went the epoxy route. One has held up fine on a rifle that sees HARD use in the tractor, truck and a saddle scabbard and never missed a beat, so I'm fairly confident in the repair.

Like most of you, I also like the older steel tube Weavers. My first was a V1.5-4.5 Wide View (if I can remember correctly). It was used on a variety of deer rifles before I had to send it to a man in Texas who reconditioned it. Not sure when or why I got rid of it. Dumb move on my part.

I now have the classic K4 with fine cross hairs and just got a steel tube V2.5 - 7, which is on my Mauser below.

I like my k4 because it works. Accurate and clear. And, because the ocular is smaller diameter so I could use low mounts on this old Chilean in 35 Rem

Is there a way to date the by serial number or model?
i have a k3 with post / cross haiR on a 1971 marlin 444 rifle. scope is not as clear as modern scopes but it works well and stands up to 444 recoil fine. tracks well too.

TBG, your rifle in post 15 has a first cousin at my home, only difference is the caliber - 35 Remington. Short story about this rifle: A close friend asked me to find him a Marlin 35 about 30 years ago. I did, regretting it at the moment he took it. 20 years later I asked if he was still deer hunting. He replied "no" so I asked if still had the Marlin and would he sell it to me? Fast forward I traded him out of the rifle and mounted a Weaver K4 (post reticle) on it. Got out to the woods and made venison. We have another friend who used to do a lot of deer hunting (so much that he lost his hunting privileges for life!). His opinion of the Marlin 336 in 35 Remington caliber was that it was "the deer killingest machine he had ever used."

I too am fond of the steel tube Weavers. Not sure how many I own but less than a dozen I rekin. I have a KT15 I bought new. It’s the first scope that goes on a new to me gun or when working up loads. Adjustable paralex, very clear and I trust it immensely.

I have several K-4s and K-6s, and one K-2.5 which developed excess parallax while on a Marlin 45-70. Recently at a swap meet, I paid the outrageous sum of $2 for a 3x-9x. I put it on my Marlin 38-55 for load development. So far it is performing like a champ.
