    all that is , is the remains of the groove that's in 32-20 cases , the diameter of the base has been turned down to fit a WSL chamber and it left a little of the original 32-20 groove above the rim. I'm sure if you had a new case you would see that was what was going on. check before you chuck em. groove on my cases measure .327 base ahead of groove measures .349 and rim measures .404 compare that to what you have.

    also, that groove is about 3/16" below the solid brass if you measure the inside depth of the case.
