    30WCF to 30-30Win

Question for the lever guns gurus here, when did Winchester started marking their M94 barrels from 30WCF to 30-30Win? All I know is Marlin was the first to mark theirs with 30-30 similar to other BP nomenclature to delineate from rival brand.

My 1930 date of manufacture says 30 WCF, whereas my postwar one says .30-30, if that's any help.

So I guess it's safe to assume that all post-64s are marked 30-30 & the change from 30WCF was somewhere between 1930 thru 1964...
Hope someone out there can narrow the gap...

    Pre-1964s made post WW2 are marked .30-30.
I'm thinking the change was between 1946-1950 when the leftover prewar parts were finally used up.

Dates/SN records are spotty...but they made the stamp change somewhere around 1952.

From what I can research, S/N circa 1,900,000 is when the 30-30 stamping started, maybe early 50s?

    .

Winchester dropped the .30WCF designation in favor of the .30-30 designation at about SN 1,250,000 (+/-).

There is no actual date or SN for the change, since Winchester always ascribed to the "parts bin" system of parts awaiting assembly - barrels with the .30-30 stamp were simply tossed into a parts bin along with un-used barrels that were stamped .30WCF.

Winchester, besides virtually all other gunmakers, NEVER discarded parts made prior to an update, after the newly updated parts were made available.

IOW, they used almost every part they made, so as to not waste any $$$

    My Model 94, manufactured in 1946 says 30 W.C.F. That's the youngest 1894 in .30 caliber that I own.
