WTB: 45 colt hollow base mould

I am looking to buy a hollow base mould for 45 colt. I would prefer a RNFP design of 250-260 gr and cast diameter of .454.

Drop me a PM if you have one for sale.

I have one but casts 453. Works good in my Colt SAA. These are tough to find but I'm through casting. I think I have enough cast that I won't be needing again. Aluminum and single cavity but it fills good, drops easy and you can go pretty fast. Handles included I'd like $85 plus shipping. Have to see if it will fit in a small priority box.

Hmm, it’s not RN and a bit lighter then you want , but if Miha has any extra you get 2cav Cramer mold that can cast HB and SOLID for 90$ delivered. People were waiting for this to happen (again) for more then a year.

    I have his 2cav 44 version and it’s wonderful.

Those Mihec Moulds are nice, but I’m looking for the more traditional RNFP profile.

It’s not a RNFP, but there is a group buy going on for a 454 Keith.

Haven’t used the hollow base version, but i have a hollow point version and it cast and shoots great.

Those are nice but I am looking for a more period correct design.

Arsenal Moulds has a good design but I see no way to hollow base it, lol.

I got an old Lyman 454613 I think . Drops a 275 Minnie RNFP out of 1-20 at 454 . Most sources list it as a 255 for original Colts . I'd lend it to you a while if you want . PM me .

Accurate molds will make any design you want and while they don't do HB molds themselves they will send it out to be done.

Were the original 45 Colt bullets hollow base?

If you can live with these dimensions...454 HB yielding a 250 grain Keith boolit. You will pay 83 dollars for this one. Cheaper than the current group buy. 4BigBang is the coupon code.

Sample current production Winchester 255-grain lead factory rounds I have pulled are.

Expect early BP rounds absolutely were.

Well heck, what mold do they use? Is that thin enough to expand though?

I still have a supply of Remington's version of the Winchester bullet that Outpost75 showed and they are indistinguishable from those Winnies. They mike at about 0.456", too, which makes them perfect for the older large throat revolvers.

They are swaged, not cast, and coated with a waxy graphite crud that functions well as a lube. Years ago, I ran some through the old CH 101 dies to make 0.452" RNFPs - it was obvious that they were of very soft lead.

That's what we need now, inexpensive swage dies like the CHs, with a hollow base option.

What would be the possibility of us all coming up with an 'original design' 45 Colt hollow base mold that would work and get a group buy going with someone?

They are not cast, but swaged. Appear to be dead-soft pure lead with clear wax film lubricant as is used on their .22 LR. Do not lead at 900 fps and are accurate from my Colt New Service M1909.

    Don't need a group buy.

Accurate already has the original mold similar to #454190 already cataloged, either with or without a crimp groove, you just need to outsource the HB pins. www.hollowpointmold.com can do them for you.

I just bought 600 Remington cup base bullets from BACO, but I am wanting a hollow base. It would be great to get one like the Winchester bullet. The cup base will work due to their size, but the search still continues.

Mihec could do it. He already did the HB Webley bullets.
