NOE- 450BM- C- 285 grain (Cast) for 450 Bushmaster subsonic loading.

My intention is for a low recoil 1100fps or slower loading for the 450 bushmaster. I used accurate 2015 powder because I have 8 1lb contianers that was free. It must be very old since the price tag on the cans $13.50 per pound. I will update this thread with chronograph data later. Any advice on proceeding would be great.

Firearm is a Ruger American Rifle
Powder coated solid bullet seated to 2.20
    25grs of accurate 2015
    Primer remington 7-1/2
    No chronograph
Near full penetration of a ream of copy paper placed 12" from muzzle.
    Bullet expanded over 1 inch
Primer is still completely rounded as can be seen in the photos.
Case had no soot on the neck.
A minimal amount of unburnt powder ejected from the barrel as can be seen by the area around the bullet hole.
All in all not bad for a single round test.

Shot a group of 5 at the range with 27gr of 2015. This time I had lots of unburnt powder and have decided to abandon 2015. I'm afraid of unburnt powder collecting in my suppressor which I should be receiving at the end of the year, and transforming it into a pipe bomb.

Tested 15gr of trailboss for a average velocity of 1210fps

I also tested 30gr of IMR 4227. Average velocity was right around 1700fps. This load resulted in 2 groups of three that just touched

4227 or 5744 are my choices here. But im after 15-1700 fps. Both powders have given excellent results. I have just started testing this bullet 5744 is up first & doing well!

5744 costs the same as gold bricks, well close anyways. I agree 4227 does show great promise at around 1700fps, two 3 shot groups resulted in 1" at 50yrds each. Im going to compare 4198 and 4227 next range trip.

For subsonic TB seems to be the winner.

Yea TB is a super powder for sure.

5744 is as costly as any trick here if finding it. ALL powders here are too expensive...
