    4759

Thought it was out of production but saw three containers on the shelf at my LGS. Black bottles and not dusty like old stock.

They got in the back room and found some hidden away, wiped the dust off before putting it out?
    Hell, I was there!

That was the last iteration of the packaging before IMR dropped it. One-pound round plastic jars instead of the 8-oz flat square metal cans it previously came in.

    Get it while you can.

If you don't snag those cans, somebody else will! SE Kentucky isn't all that far away....

I see it at the gunshow every now and then. I try to get some when I see it, it is really hard to find and works well for lots of boolits.

Didn't buy it, used it in the past but don't load anything that needs it now. Price was high enough that I couldn't see buying it "just in case". IIRC was about $28.

Bought an 8 lb keg a few years ago from leftovers from an estate sale!

You would be hard pressed to find a better powder for a whole spectrum of rifle cartridges. I bought a lifetime supply of it, when it's discontinuation was announced. I am glad I did.

Like others, I bought a keg when the discontinuance was announced. I've used 4759 for years, but I'm pretty sure a little experimentation with other powders will show 4759 can be satisfactorily replaced.

I still have 8/10 lbs left but I think 2400 or 5744 are fine replacements ie.... not the same charge. I use a dacron filler with 4759 and the other two listed but the 2400 on the smaller cases like 30-30 there is very little to gain with a filler, in fact I have some loads that shot better without. I do think on the ought six case the 4759 is better.

I had about a pound of it.
Stopped using it when it went out.
Saving for the load it worked best at.
Friend left, and couldn't take it with him.
Now I have about 10 pounds of it.

The last time Jeff B offered the Milsurp version I bought 12 pounds.
    A fellow shooter asked why I bought it . . .

    This is why . . . Ain't no mo!

Based on this thread I called around to my LGS's. Lo and behold, one of the had 4 cans left...Now there is zero.

I was fortunate enough to pick up 14 lbs of SR-4759 last year from an individual who didn't know what to use it for. I just smiled and said "Thanks".

I was lucky to get about 8 pounds when it was discontinued. I would love to have more. It works wonderfully making my 30-06's think they are 30-30's and my 338 magnums think they are 33 Winchesters. I do nurse it along trying to make it last. I have found IMR4227 to be a similar ballistic replacement although it is more dense and appears to be a touch slower in burn rate. I have gotten excellent accuracy with both powders with both cast and jacketed bullets.
    Take care all,
    Rick

If that was the buy where it started off as a large lot of 2400 equivalent and then I got an email saying the canisters of "2400" were sold out and all that was left were 4759 equivalent , then let's just say, I got my share.
