Would there be a feeding problem if I changed the barrel to 6.5 x 55, length looks ok and rim is close, dia looks ok, it's the feed ramps I wonder about.

Should be OK. I re-barreled a Mauser 30/06 to 6.5x55 without an issue.
You may need to try different followers if it doesn't want to feed.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.
