WANTED in Montana - Rossi Model 92 lever action rifle

FTF in Montana, I seek a stainless steel Rossi Model 92 lever action rifle in 44 Magnum, 45 Colt, or 454 Casull. Barrel length is not important.

I have a very clean Puma, Octagonal barrel with after market Smith ladder buck horn sight. It is not stainless. If interested, PM for Pix, price, etc. I am 10 miles east of Montana line in ND.

Go see your local gunshop. There are new 44s in stainless at several distributors.....

FYI: I just special ordered and purchased two, new production, Rossi R92s in .357/.38 for my wife and I to carry around the farm, etc. Both were Stainless Steel.

Just a heads-up, the build Quality was not good!

One had poorly fitted wood and a canted lever which bound a bit when loading (mine), the other was much nicer fit and finish (hers), but it had a problem with the loading gate not functioning right, making it basically a single shot rifle. Probably a burr or something inside keeping the port from opening enough to push the round into the mag tube all the way. (It will need to be repaired, new out of the box.)

Both shoot 4" left at 50 yards! That can be adjusted out with a brass punch and hammer, but I should not need to work on a new gun at all.

Just a comment to make you a bit wiser than I was. Look it over carefully before you buy one.

    Good luck, DC-1

PS: I saw many of these in .44 mag in local gunshops and on Gunbroker. However, the .357s were very hard to find, hence the special order.

I got a stainless 357 Rossi '72 rifle on GunBroker for a good price. Finish and fit was very good. A little lube, stoning of edges, and working the action several times loosened it up nicely.

I really want to avoid a Ruger Redhawk as my alternative.
