    Florida beach cleanup

Divers recovered a bunch of fishing sinkers at a Florida beach. My pockets would have been full.

Too bad there wasn't someone there to intercept that lead before it's disposed of properly.
    From the news story:
"........The city will help with recycling the debris and ensure everything is disposed of properly...."

I'm thinking the city of Deerfield Beach is probably not going to allow that lead to be "recycled" by a bullet caster.

I scuba dive in northern Wisconsin. It's a great day when I find a lead anchor (not attached to a boat)

We used to dive the Suwannee and it's tributaries for fossils and artifacts. We also picked up any sinkers we saw. It was pretty easy to get 20 lbs or so in a days diving.

As hard as it is getting to get lead. You may have a fun way to acquire some. Only trouble not sure i want to dip my toe in water around here much less dive into it.

Yeah some of the bodies of water around here are not "healthy" never mind the lead you might find. Mercury or PCB's would be a bigger issue, if the algae bloom or fecal bacteria didn't get you first. We sometimes remind me of a petri dish where the mold is overrunning the food and moisture supply.

Boat keels from damaged boats, check with acid to make sure not zinc. They are a huge chunk to work with but a supply measured in the hundreds of pounds can be had rather cheaply. Have heard of people getting it for the cost of hauling off the vessel and disposing of what can't be salvaged. Dump fees less any aluminum, brass, copper that can be salvaged for scrap.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

    That's amazing.

If there isn't some kind of obstacle off shore like a reef or a sunken wreck,
It looks like a bunch of folks out there don't know how to tie a knot.

I left about 20lbs of folding leg satellite looking egg sinkers on the bottom of the ocean in Maui the last time there DIY shark fishing off the shore. They’re designed hold your bait in place while anchored on the coral bottom and brake off when a fish hits. Was a good trade off with the 7’ sandbar shark, a moray eel, and two grey reef sharks I caught and released. A tree hugger there was throwing a fit when I reeled that huge sandbar shark. I snapped a few pics of it before I released it and a he reacted like I was harpooning it. The guy kept swearing at me non stop and calling me an Fn idiot. He immediately settled down after I told him once I was done cutting it up into steaks I’d be over to kick is A$$. The pleasant guy disappeared inside of his sight seeing charter boat parked across from where I was standing and never came out to bother me after that.lol
Then a smoking hot gal come over to help me release the fish. She said she came over to help the shark and not me. Needless to say I didn’t ask her out
