357 mag shotshells from 357 MAX no. 2

I live in the coastal NC area we have all kinds of no legs slithering around & I`ve found this loading to glue em to the dirt , dead rat now!
when ya first shoot this load it`ll seem benine at first ,pattern it , but it`ll do the job , I shoot it from 4"& 6" revolvers .

If it`ll penatrate an aluminum can both sides it`ll put no legs to sleep, 15ft I would say is max effective range

1: anneal mouths a bit ,not a lot.
2: prime with as hot a primer you have
3:you need a full length 222 rem sizer die, size the max case to the shoulder portion of the 222 die.
4: cut cards from cereal boxes or thick poster board ,I use 2 cards tite on 4gr of CLAYS
5:fill case with shot, I ran across some #10, fill to 1/8" ,leave room to place another card on top, run case into the 222
die a bit deeper, the shoulder portion will roll the mouth a bit.
6: seal with water proof carpenters glue

    PS:

After firing the brass will fire form to the chamber & will hold even more shot!

    Have fun ,Be Safe!

your using max brass to make a magnum round? I have been meaning to try something like this if I am understanding it correctly. the problem I was having is the max brass would not chamber in a magnum, so this gets around that problem?

These have worked well for me in my S&W 27 and 67.

those work quite well hockeynick but I want to be able to make shotshells with out buying plastic capsules. several people on here do it for larger calibers but in order to get enough shot in a 357 magnum you need longer brass, such as the 357 max uses.

I like the idea. Using .357max brass is a better option than plastic capsules IMHO. Good thinking!

I wonder if an old Lyman 310 tong tool in .222 would work?

    GP Man;
Good post! A question or three, if I may:

How do you anneal the Max. cases "a bit" ? I have used the candle method for my rifle brass, and it works very well.
Hottest primers indicate Magnum? I only have standard flavor, but am willing to spend $5 if magnum primers work better. In the interest of Science, you know!

I have my eye on a set of 222 Rem dies.
The shot capsules hold about 106 gr. shot. How much #10 does the Max. brass hold?

    Thanx!

I’ve just loaded some 357 Max snake shot loads. Hope to get a chance to try them out next weekend in both a 357 and 38 Special. I used a 30 Carbine die to neck down the end of the brass. I did have to trim the brass just a bit so they fit in the 38 Special cylinder. I was able to get around 125 grains of #9 shot using this brass. I played with the roll crimp using a 45 ACP RN seating die as well as a Lyman 310 222 muzzle resizing die. The 222 die was definitely more consistent and easier to make the roll crimp.

Midway has a good price on 357 Max brass if anyone is looking for some.

I have a couple hundred Speer 357 shot capsules that I filled back in 70s. After loading a few and shooting them I decided they were useless and never loaded anymore. I wouldn't load a lot of any 357 shot loads without shooting a few to see if they are going to make the grade.

360 DW brass was available and you wouldn't need much. To anneal get a 1/4" dr deep socket and an adapter from 1/4" drive to 6 point for a cordless drill/driver. Set the cartridge in the socket turning it as it goes into an LP torch flame. When you get the color change, invert it into a bucket of water.
