My MZ's ready for shooting season

Bought my first MZ, a 32 cal CVA squirrel rifle, almost 50 years ago and while I've bought and sold a few, I have never lost the urge to fiddle with the "holy black"

Top to bottom: Parker Hale P53, Parker Hale P58 (Navy) Parker Hale 61 (Musketoon), Parker Hale .451 Volunteer, Thompson Center 54cal Hawken, Pedersoli 50cal Kentuckys (flint and percussion.

    Boolits are big (l - r) .446 Minnie, 425gn 54cal Minnie, 520gn x .451(Volunteer), Lyman 577 Minnie and Bugg 577 Minnie, with Speer 55gn 224's for comparison

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

Musketoon is my favorite of the Parker Hales.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.

Not to split hairs, but your hawken appears to have a renegade stock on it.

Someone was just poking fun at me for all my muzzleloaders, I didn't even realize I had as many as I do.

My very first was a Knight TK2000 12 gauge I found in a gun shop in Pillager, MN for $110. It's the only gun I have used to turkey hunt since.

    Then in no particular order

    TC New Englander 54 cal
    TC Impact 50 cal
    TC Renegade 54 cal
    TC Scout pistol 54 cal

I feel like I'm forgetting one

All mine are ready, except I want to change the front sight on the renegade. Looking at the list, maybe I'm a Thompson Center addict? Pre-1998 they made some very cool stuff. I wish they would go back to that.

I have about that many too, not counting the cap n ball stuff..

    2 in-line traditions in 50
    1 20g percussion trade gun
    1 cva optima version 1 in 50
1 strange Japan made 45 percussion

I have nothing nice like the stuff you guys are running.. the only one that isn’t ready to roll is the strange Japan Gun in 45. Didn’t come with a ramrod so I need to build one. I got a hardwood dowel to build one now, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Also need to get the end hardware. Not sure what it’s called...

The end of a ramrod is usually called a jag. I use cleaning jags, they have a rounded end that works good with round ball and many conicals. Some guys who shoot sabot pointed bullets swear by dedicated loading jags like a spin jag. I load and swab with the same jag, no need to be fancy.

No, I have never owned a 45 caliber muzzleloader. I love my scout pistol. It is unwieldy, but I carried it last year for hunting with no issues. I only need to find a better holster. I'm thinking a chest holster for a TC encore 10" might work.

Track of the Wolf calls the end hardware "Ramrod Tips" --->>> https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/584/1

They come in brass, steel or nickel silver. concave and threaded.
10-32 threaded accessory jags, worms and pullers are usually the more popular threadings and easier to find.

Nothing wrong with those loading tips, but these cleaning jags are exactly the same concave end, plus function for swabbing between shots. Or cleaning.

Also I see you are using a hardwood for a ramrod. That is a good choice. Do not fall for the TOTW Delrin "unbreakable" rods. Pure trash. They are like loading with a wet noodle. Hardwood or aluminum make great ramrods. I've yet to see any other material that comes close. For a range rod, those stainless steel rods with a brass guide are the top of the line.
