I assume for sub sonic with a 300BO or 7.62x39, the pistol position for gas valve is best? And I don't get the really short barrels for sub-sonic but then again I don't get alot of things!

Look twice, shoot once.
Yes, pistol position. Preferably with an adjustable block.
Longer barrels are better, for subsonic as well as supersonic. With a long enough barrel and fast powder you can get it pretty quiet even without a suppressor. And the short gas system coupled with a longer barrel helps it to function with small charges of fast powder.
I’ve had a 16 inch carbine length and once apon a time I had a 10 inch pistol length.
16 inch carbine length; I had to buy a ni boron bolt, lighter spring, lighter trigger spring, and then use 4198 to get reliable cycling out of that booooger. A lot of work for just shooting subs when your figuring it out one/two things at a time
10 inch pistol system; shot right off the bat subs. Hahaha how easy was that
Go w pistol length bro for subs just save yourself hahaha
