    #454190 Hollow Point ?

Any yall tried out a 454190 with a drag chute hollow point?
What kind of expansion did you get, how big a hollow, how soft?

It'll be interesting to see what the responses are and if someone has fooled with it. Any critter I've ever shot with that hunk of lead out of my SAA stayed dead without a HP . . . and they never knew the difference whether it was solid or HP. Would also be interesting to know that if hollow pointed, how much grain weight is lost due to the HP.

I'll see if I can find any cast, I had Erik Ohlen do one for me years ago. I never had great luck with expansion at 800 fps. or so, as I had it done with the intentions of using it in 45 ACP. The HP wasn't huge, and weight out of 50/50 was 240 grains.

Erik did this HP for me, the Lyman gas checked version of the .45ACP hardball.

Not too long ago I snagged one of those old Ideal gas checked versions of the 454190 too. But you know, it'd seem like a sacrilege to alter such a scarce piece of hardware!

Oh, and going off of memory, that was about a 20 grain change in weight.

    Like the picture.
A hollow point that pops open well and holds together acts like a drag chute.
