It could be about any one of the various type metals. It could also be another lead alloy contaminated with zinc. Hopefully not.
How can you tell if its zinc? is there a test/

You can drop a drop of acid on it and see if it bubbles or fizzes. I use the stuff sold at swimming pool supply places. Or you could send off a sample for an XFR test. There is a member here, BNE, that does this for members. He asks for a pound of lead as payment for each sample that he test. Its a good deal and he is a great guy to deal with.
