    That would look awesome on the prairie beside a 25-06'd antelope! My old 38 Arisaka 8x57 needs to come home from my neighbor. Your bolt shrouds always look good.

    I had a Shaw 8x57 barrel for a 98 Mauser laying around and a shot out 6.5 type 38 so they got combined. It works with shorter oal like American factory loads. I used the Hornady 125gr and then 150gr for deer hunting with it. The reciever inside shoulders had to be opened for the less tapered Mauser case but it feeds and shoots great. It will shoot normal fmj loads but not as a repeater. The barrel is 16-1/2", earning it the nickname "Cannon" at the deer lease
