    Cool.

You should be happier than a dog with a new stick.

I had a late production Remington. It did real well with cast.

That is a nice rifle. My late brother had a bubba'd Rem 03A3 with a two groove barrel. It would do 3 shots in 1.5" at 100 yards with hunting loads so we treated it to a Timney trigger and a Richard's "Old Classic" stock that was gorgeous. He gave it to a friend in New Mexico who passed and his widow sold it. I've always preferred Mausers but I liked that Springfield.

This gun looks new. Not sure if it's unissued or a rebuild. There is no wear on any of the metal parts. It's a 1944 with FJA inspectors mark in the wood. Whether it all original or not doesn't really matter. It's getting feed some Lead. I did order the longer tang screw from Brownells.

The receiver was made 1943 and the barrel is a 3/44 date.

Probably an arsenal re-build that was put back together and put on a rack. Still a good rifle if the headspace is correct.

I tend to agree that this one being a rebuild. I'm still very happy with it. I loose the history and character but I perfer a gun that is in excellent shape. Since the gun really has no value other than the sum of parts I may turn it into a A3 04 sniper rifle. I'm getting older and sights are harder to see....

Here are my 3 US military guns.

The Springfield is too nice to shoot. Its all original with about 90% case hardning and 98% or better blueing. 1884 model made 1889

Nice rifle, even if it is a rebuild. I have a July 1943 03A3 SC in excellent condition. Its a beautiful rifle and a pleasure to shoot with moderate cast bullet loads.

The rebuild does not bother me. I'm a shooter not a collector. I have been wanting a sniper rifle for a while. This one would be a good one to use. I think it would be a lot of fun to use an old Weaver 4x to shoot 600yds

Nice looking rifle. I have a early '42 Remington 03 and a Fall '44 Remington 03A3. Need to find an SC as well as RI and Springfield 03 to complete the 1903 family. The rear sight on the 03A3 had a spring come out and get lost so I have a NOS sight sitting on coffee table I need to replace it with. The Remington 03 looks nicer, but that rear sight just doesn't agree with my 52 yr old eyes. I have a NOE 311299 40 gr IMR 4350 load that works in Garands so will try it in the 03A3 when I get the sight replaced.
