Morning guys...

One of the guys that does self guided hunts here on Prince of Wales Island made this video of the island. He hunts mature fall bears, (which I don’t do) on salmon streams. Good folks, but I dont trophy hunt, just meat. But to each his own. And I surely don’t mind the money that comes to the island due to trophy hunters.

This video has some awesome shots of the island as a whole, and those that like remote Alaska stuff might enjoy.. this is where I live 365... it’s a good scenery video....

Marko maybe you should take up Fall bear hunting as well. That was on my bucket list,but I've come to terms with the fact I 'm never going to see it!!!! I do wonder if a fall bear might be better eatting then a spring bear?

Nope.. in my experience, fall bears, especially large fall bears are never as yummy as a fresh out of hibernation, grass and root fed young two year old boar. It’s my experience. Somebody else might have a different opinion. Not to say that a fall bear can’t be eaten. But Alaskan regulations require salvage of meat in spring bears, and do not require salvage of meat for late season bears. That should say something in its self. I target young males. Leave the big ones for those paying big bucks and don’t want meat. Just like buck deer.. it doesn’t take as many males to keep things going, so I take young males. Plus they are yummy.

Awwwww Mary, it’s not that much... only about 100 inches per year.. you should hear all the jokes... “that’s not hair on my back, it’s Moss” and “I am not overweight, I am waterlogged” to name a couple... in the winter that rain doesn’t often turn to snow, but a lot of Ice and freezing rain..

I got to see quite a few bears just in the two weeks I was down at Icy last year. After the fish came in I guess they were at war with them for a few weeks, just trying to keep them out of camp. ll
The cook was something like 6' 9" and just big, one came in the kitchen door while the crew was at supper, they said he screamed like a little girl. lol

I have seen a couple of smallish grizzlies this year up north, see musk ox every trip, and actually smacked a caribou last week. lol
