    Loose Molds

Hi Guys, I have two Lyman molds that I haven't used for a long time. I got them out today to use them again and noticed that they were somewhat loose in that I can feel a slight wiggle when the two sides are pressed together. Has anyone experienced this? Can I remedy it by driving the alignment pins further out? Thanks for any help.

Most likely the alignment pins are what is giving you the wobble. First try the mold fit without handles, in other words make sure its the alignment pins. If it is not the handles then back out the pins a bit and check the mold fit. If the mold seats square you are good to go, just tap the pins to a position that they align the mold, put them back on the handles and you are up and running.

You might want to check the mold fit when the mold is hot. I have a couple of molds that feel loose until they reach casting temperature, then they tighten up and work right.
