    Vintage Shot Shells

    Both boxes are ink stamped "U.S Property" on bottom of box. The first box has zinc plated steel heads and the date code on the box flap indicates 1941. The second box is additionally ink stamped "Trap Load". Both are full boxes with original cartridges made by Federal Cartridge Corporation.

    Those are neat. Thanks for the close up pic. Marked US like that, were they for training aerial gunners?

    That's what I always thought, but they marked MWR (moral, welfare, recreation) ammo the same way where it was used on military base rec ranges. Figured all the cartridge companies would be strapped to war ammo contracts but these could have gone both ways.
