    Lyman #14 Shell Holder

Might anyone know for what caliber the Lyman X14 shell-holder is for? (NOT the #X14b... just plain-Jane #14)?
    Thanks.

Don’t see it on the chart.

Makes me wonder if the 14B is the 14 with an improved modification, like being a Gen 2 ? Just talking out my hat....

Will any shells that fit into the 14B fit into your 14? Or is there too big of a difference?

Thanks 15meter -- might be... 'Cept , mine looks exactly like other Lyman X 'holders -- not having the centre-piece as in the Mid-South picture. Next time at loading room -- tomorrow morn, I hope -- I'll try both .44-40 and Marlin 444 rounds I have loaded just to check.
    Appreciate the lead/hopeful answer!

I just checked my collection, I have #14, #14A and #14B I haven't taken the time to measure the differences between them.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

In the chart I have shows the 14 as for 38/40, 44/40 and the 45 Auto Rim. It also list the 14A as an alternate version.
My guess is that there were slight variations in these cases. Enough so Lyman made several different ones to cover all the variations.
The chart I'm looking at I got off Ebay for a couple bucks. It lists 45 cartridges that Lyman/Ideal made dies for the 310 and Tru-line JR.
I have another chart I got off here that lists numbers up to 175 with most of them with cartridges by them. These are only Die Body numbers. It helps ID die bodies but doesn't give the numbers for the rest of the die sets.
On most sets it might not be hard to assemble enough of the other dies to make sets. Decapping chamber can't be too hard. Expanding chamber either. Priming, seating/crimping might be a little harder.

    14B fits my 44-40 and my 45 Schofield. Don't think I've seen a 14.

14A is for .45 auto rim.14B is for .38/40,.44-40,and 444 Marlin.I believe the 14 was listed for the 444 Marlin. The 14B also works for 7x65R.I have a 14 in a plastic bag marked 444 Marlin but don't remember where or when I got it.
