Mossberg 464 22lr Mint in factory box, like new! $250 OTD Opinions please.

Lgs has it. Thinking about buying it. Walnut stock. How are they. Seams like Henry is all the rage these days. Thanks Al.

I'm not familiar with it but I found this short thread on RFC.--->>> https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum...ight=model+464

Also watched some favorable youtube videos of it that showed that it functioned fine, along with 2 others showing the accuracy and function of the 464 SPX model.
I also read this 464 review that coincides with what the videos show:--->>> https://buckmasters.com/Magazines/Gu...w-Lever-Action

I didn't see any malfunctions during any of the videos.

The price for a new 464 from Bud's Guns is $277 delivered before FFL fees.

    3. Firing the 464 begins after the 3:10 mark:

    4. Another video only of firing the 464 SPX:

That's some nice looking blonde wood.
Wiki says that its origin is the USA. --->>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mossberg_464

Mossberg made a popular lever action .22lr named the Palomino from 1959 - 1971.
You can read some details about it here.--->>> https://www.pmulcahy.com/lever-actio...ifles_mo-r.htm
While they made both a carbine and rifle version, the carbine was more popular.
Most folks on RFC seem to like them.

Please let us know more about how yours works out if you get a chance.

When i 1st shot it. I had 3 click no bangs. Rim fire can do that. But not 3 rounds in a row. I thought i got someone else's problem gun. Then it started to fire. I ran the 1st 3 back though they fired. Now and then i still get some misfires. Had 5 yesterday while zeroing the scope. Took my Marlin 60 along too. It had no misfires. I hope the Mossberg just needs some breakin. Im also going to compare where it strikes the cartridge vs my other 22's.

And thanks for the info links.

I would check the rims of both the good and bad ammo for signs of light firing pin hits, to see if there's any difference in the strength of the hits.
Some misfires could just be the brand of ammo.

The manual instructs to basically only remove the receiver cover and the bolt for cleaning and lubrication.--->>> https://www.mossberg.com/wp-content/...ers-Manual.pdf

It doesn't say to oil the firing pin mechanism, Mossberg doesn't recommend it and some folks are totally against doing that while others aren't as opposed to it.
If you ever remove the bolt, you can inspect the front of the firing pin for wear or abuse, clean the gun and decide if the firing pin or its channel needs any attention such as solvent to flush it out or lube.

Sometimes switching ammo brands will help, but keep firing rounds through it to become more familiar with it and help to break it in if it's almost new.
It may have just been sitting around for a while.
Let your gun shop know how it works out too so that he will know that he owes you a favor if you're dissatisfied.

Im going to take a look at it today. And tomorrow. Im planing on more range time. Been shooting winchester bulk 555. I have some remington golden and thunder bolts here too. I'll take them along. The golden were my goto bulk ammo. But last to boxes. I been getting a bit of under powered rounds.

That still leaves CCI and the Federal bulks to try.
I've used most brands but like CCI Blazers the most.

I fired it some more. Ran a full tube of ammo through no miss fires. Then the next tube had one. One thing i noticed when it does misfire. It sounds like a toy spring gun kinda strange.

    That's great news!
Whatever ammo you're using it sounds like the gun is A-Okay with it!
That also helps to provide some feedback for others who might also be unsure about buying one.
    Enjoy!
