    30-30 hp

Tinkering with loads for the 'new' 30-30 I got.

    Have some 311291 HP's.

I have some from fatnhappy's HP mold, and some from an NOE HP mold.

the one I shot into the jugs was NOE's HP, they were 96/2/2 alloy air cooled.
the HP goes down to where the driving band meets the ogive on the bullet nose. If I measured correctly.

    170gr wt
    sr4759
    17gr
approx 1700 fps per Lyman cast bullet reloading guide

    shot into water jugs
Found it in the 5th jug.

    wt 70gr.

may have to work on it some.

Thanks for sharing. Got an idea of the velocity? Be interesting to see what the weight of a fired non HP version of the same alloy is.

I have some that are solids, same alloy. I"ll have to line up more than 5 jugs to catch it I suspect.

I think this will be a good Hog killer.

    What alloy did you use?

I'd wager it will take 7 to catch a solid.

I like your bullets better from your mould because the nose is .301 as cast with the HP.

Noe's is .303 or I managed to smush it fatter when sizing it.

The .303 nose makes for a really really good engraving when you chamber.
.301 or .302 is where it's at for my gun.

I have a .301 nose sizer from NOE but may get a .302 to make these perfect.

I just have to find something else to buy from NOE than just the nose sizer...

I may have to buy GC's from him.

    I still pedel them.

Shoot a hog with that bullet and load that penetrated 5 1 gallon water jugs and he don't go down, better get the hey out of there or climb a tree. You have run into hogzilla's big brother and he his Kevlar on.

you can borrow mine again if you like.

Actually, lets talk. I could use some .303 on the nose for my mini 30.

shot the solid version into water jugs. same powder charge, distance etc..

it bounced off the 6thjug and was lost.

evidence it tumbled in the second jug on the exit and heyhole's after that.

I'll have to test for accuracy and distance yet.
