    Water soluble sizing lube

Not sure if this is the area for this question.
I want to size my 44 mag 240 grain bullets prior to powder coating. Does anyone have a lube that will rinse off easily after sizing in A lee sizer without affecting Powder coat adherence?

    Thanks for any input

Have you tried just running them through the die without lube? Lead is much softer than your die body.

I size dry with a lee push through die. I polished my die to aid the process.

I ain't tried it, but I magine you could use water for lube. Just dunk each one right before you run it through. I've spit on a few pistol cases before running through a carbide die to see and it lubed those. You could probably use something like acetone or lacquer thinner too, which would evaporate.

I have run them through dry, but I’ve read that it’s not a good idea. The only reason I can think that it’s a bad idea is that it may foul the die with some lead. I’ll check into the Klein synthetic wax.

Dawn dish soap. Put in tub, add squirt of soap, shake.
Rinse in sink with colander, spread in Sun to dry.

Just make sure you rinse off the size die and dry it well. I also spray it with that blasted WD-40 to make sure you get rid of all the water.

Also works great for PC'd bullets until you get your sizers polished.

Dish soap should work fine It wont take a heavy coat or layer to do. Another would be pumice free waterless hand cleaner a little thicker but should wash off with a simple water rinse. If really needed the lee water soluble die wax should do well and could be diluted 3-4 -1 with water to aid a even coat and allow a timble lube of several hundred bullets in a plastic container.

I used a Redding water soluble lube years ago and it worked as well as any other lube, though I never tried washing the lube off with water. They market a "green" version now that is advertised as water soluble.

I worked for a large city's water and power dept and every electrician's truck and trouble trucks had a 5 gal. buck of wire pulling lube. I took a cup full home and could not tell any difference between the wire pulling lube and Lee sizing lube (I didn't check the MSDSs though).

I PC before sizing. Boolits fresh and clean from the mold, still slightly warm take PC wonderfully even on humid days, with no worries of contamination. PCing after sizing leaves room for error as the thickness of the PC can vary slightly based on several factors. The PCed boolits slide right through the sizing die.
