savage model 25 in 22 hornet

A couple of years ago I bought (new) a savage model 25 in 22 hornet. It is a very accurate rifle BUT...and its a big BUT...is does not consistently chamber the classic round nose 22 hornet round. It will chamber spitzer pointed cartridges every time but not so the RN types.
Has anyone had a similar experience with this type of rifle? I am wondering if I it would be worth sending the rifle back to have it checked out.
    thanks

    .

Since the magazine is plastic, the first thing I would check is if the magazine is slightly out of battery/lockup.

If that's OK, the next thing I would do is remove the bolt and polish both the bolt face and the rear lip of the chamber (especially around the upper portion).

magazine not the issue...but idea to confirm !
looking down the chamber I can see there is no smooth transition for the cartridge feed..
chambers spitzer and semi-spitzer no problem
    classic RN..hit and miss...
wonderfully accurate rifle though and a fun cartridge to shoot.

I put mine in a Boyd's and use Lyman's 225438, powder coated, no check and yea - it's a hoot. The problem is they chambered the Hornet on the cheap and the counterbored bolt necessitates the nipple-like extension at the rear of the chamber to contain the rimmed cartridge. If the bullet out of the magazine doesn't align perfectly with the center of the chamber, it's gonna interfere. The answer is really in tuning the mag to the gun. Maybe a new one? Maybe scraping the underside of the mag rails for better alignment? I know if I grow my nails just right, I can single feed it.
