    6:00 a.m. tomorrow

    Well, the day's finally here. I'm to report to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow for my prostate surgery. They're taking out the whole thing, and with stage 4 cancer, I'm glad. Whatever the aftermath, I'll deal with it as best as I'm able to do so. One fellow my wife works with at the thrift store had surgery 15 years ago, and he's going strong today, and has never had any recurrence from it or recurrence of the cancer. That's exceptional, of course, but still shows what one can at least possibly hope for.

    Whatever happens, I can very thankfully say that I've been a very richly blessed man in my time. And the greatest asset an old man like me can have is that realization, and thankfulness for it. I am continually awed by the greatness and power of the Lord. He is SO much greater and more powerful and wise than any of us could EVER be! He takes care of us when we don't even know how to do it for ourselves! What a wonderful Savior and Lord we serve! How can anyone not realize that God is indeed not only alive, but still in control, and increasingly so, in all probability. I weep for those who've allowed themselves to become so cynical and nihlistic as to believe that there is no real god but themselves! They are truly missing SO much!

    Sounds like you have half the battle already won! Keep the faith. I've gone through 3 bladder cancer surgeries and have lost count of the other minor cancer surgeries. Have faith in the Lord. Get well soon.

    Prayers for success. Friend went through that Monday, seems to be recovering OK - I was going to visit today but the 3" rain prevented.

    Well... it's almost 7:30AM in EDT zone -- no idea what time zone you're in -- (4:30AM in PDT; 9AM in NDT?) -- but, regardless -- you have been in our prayers and best wishes not only for the surgical procedure -- but a trouble-free recovery. I have two of two friends who underwent similar organ removal -- and both have fared most well; Neil had prostate totally removed in 2008, with Donnie a year earlier. Both are doing quite well!

    Just for reference Dennis lives in Georgia . It's been a while since he has posted till the last few days . He also has diabetic and other complications to go with this surgery .
