    Best Buy in a Case Neck Ball Micrometer?

    I can't afford the top end. Are any of the less expensive tools (Lyman, Frankford Arsenal. etc) worth owning?

    There are gages that are good, use an indicator and ball or pin. Mititoyo used to make an Micrometer with inter changeable anvils that might be looked at. Depending on what accuracy your looking for. And your accuracy level dictates tool quality to a degree. Used tools can be a big savings at times. neck turning for a tight necked bench rest rifle you want need to measure to .0001 measuring sorting neck thickness or concentricity is more up to you.
    I made a little gage with ball and .0001 mititoyo indicator that works very well. Handier and faster than ball mics for sorting measuring
