    Stevens 28-30-120 (Stumpy) is Range Ready

    Stevens 28-30-120 “Stumpy Rifle” is range ready

    * 50 Rocky Mountain Ctg Co brass
    * 50 CCI SR Primers
    * 50 Accurate 28-120B 1:20 bullets, 125gr - clone of the Ideal 287221 bullet
    * 25 reloads of 30gr DuPont 1F black powder
    * 25 reloads of 15.7gr IMR 4198

    John, That's a classic " 280 ". That's a caliber you aren't going to find brass laying on the ground at the range. Beautiful rifle ! What caliber is the second barrel ?

    John Boy you certainly have something very different there, probably won't see too many others at the range! When you get to making smoke I'd like to see targets, wonder how hard it will be to keep fouling under control in that bore size. What is the extra barrel in the picture?

    In the decade when those were being used, they were "duplex loaded", with a few grains of smokeless under the main black powder charge. Fouling was almost nil. From the ASSRA site, I know that he's planning to continue that tradition.

    Breathlessly awaiting his results, because I've got both Ballard and Stevens .28-30 projects waiting for me to fit the wood.
