Sorry to be gone for so long. Had some 'puter problems, got a new one, and promptly messed that one up! But ya' can't keep a good man down ... for long at least, and I'm glad to be back. Really missed you guys, seriously.
For a sitrep, I'm prepped and ready for surgery on May 9. When my new urologist found my stage 4 prostate cancer, I was very concerned to say the least. But I made peace with my mortality back in 1969 in Da Nang Viet Nam, and nothing's changed since then except a lot of water's gone under the bridge. Still, we all want to stay here as long as possible. I'd really like to see my grandboys graduate college and maybe even get married. But that's not up to me. My days are numbered and I've been consciously aware of that for an awful long time now. I can't believe God has given my my "three score and ten" when I've given him so many opportunities to take me home! I guess he figured I wasn't "ripe" yet, and left me on the vine??? Who knows???
I was a little concerned at first with taking out the whold prostate since the after effects can often be more problematic than if the roto-rooter job is done. But with the cancer being stage 4, I really wouldn't have felt very much assurance that it'd stay gone, so ..... ya' takes what ya' can get, I guess. I've been tied to a Foley for well over a month now, and it's aggrevating, but it's really helping me keep my bladder clear, and that's a priority now. I don't get out much, but that keeps me out'a trouble, I guess.
You guys out there, take CARE of yourself!!! Get your PSA's done yearly after about age 40 or 45 or whenever your urinary activity changes, or whenever there's a strange "feeling" down there. If you don't, you could be writing your own demise down, and that's never a good thing. And if you suspect you're not getting the right treatment CHANGE YOUR DOCTOR AND DON'T WAIT LIKE I DID! It can make the difference between life and death, and may very well save you some great trials.
We only go around once, boys. Let's make it a good trip! And keep it as long as we can. There's enough variables in life to keep us busy already!
Any prayer sent my way would be earnestly appreciated. I believe in prayer, and I've seen it work. And thanks in advance.
