Nice 44! I have a bull-barreled target rifle in .25-20 Single-Shot myself. I bought an Arsenal Molds 257283, 85 gr, 4 cavity for it. I sent it off to Erik Ohlen to have 2 cavities hollow pointed. Hopefully I will be able to cast some up in a few weeks, having issues with my bottom pour currently.

I'm very interested in how that bullet shoots in your 2520. What twist does your Barrel have?

Arsenal molds won't return my email or my phone calls. Must be busy or not want my business.

NOE has several .25 moulds that work. The 260-86-FN is mighty close to that old Lyman number. He can do 4-cavity moulds, but why? You're not casting pistol bullets for an army. Personally speaking, most of my bullets for my .25-20s have come from single-cavity moulds.

NOE moulds are all CNC cut - not cherried. Delivery is often straight from stock, and is still pretty quick if not. His standard material is aluminum, which I really like for being light weight. Less fatigue. Aluminum requires no breaking-in. It comes up to casting temp faster, but you have to keep your rhythm up or the mould cools down. If you really want to be obsessive, he'll cut a socket in the mould for a thermocouple! He will do brass, but not cast iron. I think I know why - cast iron releases a lot of graphite when it's cut, and the chips are very small. Nasty to clean up after. He will do brass. I have some brass moulds (not NOE) which also cast fine bullets, but as I already hinted, brass is heavy.

I've looked over at the Noe website and there's a couple of the 25 caliber molds I would be interested in but he's out of stock right now. I'm also watching eBay for a couple what is a single cavity one is a double. Got to get some brass formed first.

Sorry about your not being able to get through to arsenal. He must be pretty busy I think he's a one man operation.

I have one of Arsenal's 32 Caliber mold and really liked it. I just got lucky and put a wanted to buy add here on castboolits and found a Noe 85 FN plain base mold. That should be perfect for my needs. Well I would like to try the 63 grain version of the same mold clone of the .257283 Lyman.
