First try rattle can a Pistol

Well I tried to do my own camo on my new 300 blk pistol with a 8.5” barrel

It started life as an unfinished lower with a PSA pistol kit before and after what do you think?

It has magpul flip ups and a Trijicon MRO

I think when this wears off I’m going to order some spray cerakote and do it a little more permanent

    What do you think?

I'd recommend something other than enamel I did my 510 Remington using foliage it looked good but the paint chipped easily and oil washes it off. I'm thinking powder coat or epoxy based next time

I love me some spray paint on hard use firearms. You did a great job and it's easy to touch up when it does get worn off which it will.

That looks good if it gets a little scuffed easy fix. I really like it.

This was the easiest thing I have ever done! It took no more then 10 minutes to do. I used maple leaves from the front yard, a piece of plastic mesh and an old laundry bag with a tighter mesh pattern, I painted the whole thing a deep forest green and then kinda tiger striped it with Kahki and then put what pattern I wanted tight on the pistol and just with a single spray from about 18” away just hit it real fast

When I do mine I spray every thing black then take a leaf or branch from every different plant I can find even a handful of grass and go to town with tan green and black. Pretty much the same as you.
They can come out better looking than factory rifles if done right. Just wish the paint held better.

Firearm finishes are expensive for a reason. I'm sure if you never take it to the range and/or never clean it then it will appear to be satisfactory until one of those conditions change.

In my opinion it's kinda like those camo wallets - I'd be afraid to drop it in the woods! To each his own, but wood and blue/brown are what I like.

Nice, but I’m biased as it looks like my first try.

Both of yours are better. This is a Sabre defense lower with a 7.62 by 39 upper. I just finished and I like it a lot.

Saw a guy do one once. He painted the whole thing one color.
Then laid a handful of leaves and some grass stems over it, and lightly sprayed the second color.
Let it dry and brushed 'em off.

Very little artistic talent required, and it came out well.

    That looks nice!
My past experience, standard paints don't hold up well. I had better luck with VHT engine paint found at auto pars stores. The VHT engine paint, will remove if you use aggressive solvent, such as lacquer thinner. But...it seems to hold up well to standard gun solvents like Hoppe's. Even better yet, if you don't want to bake, is DuraCoat . It holds up very well and is tough. But you need an air brush to apply, or buy a Preval spray kit. You will get a better , more durable finish, than any rattle can that I know of.

Most rattle can sprays aren’t that permanent, I know, I tried a finish on my turkey gun.. it kept wearing off. However, Brownell’s carry’s a brand with a unique design with a hardener in the can. It’s activated only when you are ready to spray.

I had great results with Brosnells Aluma-Hyde. Did this 1100 turkey gun about 10 years ago and it still looks good.

Speaking of touch up, the old Savage just got one. After this dries it'll get clear coat. I rubbed it down to blend the colors a bit after this pic. Dont worry it's still not pretty
