When I first started reloading H335 was highly recommended for 223Rem 55gr "ball loads", but after that first batch of 200 rounds, I NEVER used it again, I would never consider firing them at night either.

I swiftly adopted Alliant RL7 for my 223 Reloading, because it is almost entirely flashless. I've got a couple pounds of H335 and I'm trying to figure out how to use it up...

Especially since I don't own a 223 Semi auto. I suppose I should try it in my long barreled (26") Varmint rig

If you don't have the 335 I'd go for LeverE for the 30/30. Jax or cast, lowest pressure for FPS I've found.
    Whatever!

If you want a double duty powder go a notch or two slower burning .. one of the best cast loads for my 32 spl. Is basicly a case full of 4350 and the rcbs bullet shot better than the faster powders and better in full speed 06 with jacketed . I'm sure most of the other powders in that burn range would work also .
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

The reason I'm looking at H335 is the cost of surplus from Bartlett. I shoot a lot more 30-30 than 30-06 but It would be nice to have a great 30-30 powder that also works for 30-06 cast.

Same here. Several AR15s and our ancient 700 VS- H335 was best. I may drag it out for the 30-30 - Lord knows I’ve got Plenty magnum primers due to fate.

H335 is my go to powder for the 223 but I never thought about it for the 30-30. I might have to give it a try.

The older Lyman 47th handbook lists h335 for some 30-06 loads but what I read, it doesn't show it to be very forgiving. It is still listed in the 49th handbook in both jacketed and cast in 30-30 though. I haven't picked any up to try yet, but I'm thinking it will do okay in 30-30.

TbG, I've not seen any recommendation for mag primers with h335, where are you seeing it?

If you want a go to powder for every rifle cartage, go with H4895, works in everything from 223 to 45-70 and then some. Great with cast boolits too, not a SR4795 replacement but it works.

H4895 would be good for both. When I first started reloading 30/30, blc(2) and 335 were the recommended. This is 308W in AR10 @ 100, Tues. Disregard fps numbers, not right. Got to get used to the magnetospeed, they actually run ~ 2300 fps. About the same results in 30/30 but I just use leverE and unique in it anymore.

Bazoo- I just automatically use mag primers with ball powder across the board. H335 may not need them but it doesn't hurt.
