Possible ways to remove a broken case

I was trying a new to me process of reducing casings for jackets. I turned down the base of a 38 sp, and proceed to reduce it in a jacket reducing button. Incountered a some resistance and pressed a little harder and the case split in half inside the reducing button. It is the top half of a 38 sp. .How can I remove it. The button is drill guide, probably heat treated..
    Thanks ,
    Bill

Clean the inside and scuff then JB weld something in it. Use paste wax to keep the JB weld from getting where you don't want it.

    Good to read.

Future reference: I get this occasionally in my PCC's and a snug fitting bore brush will 99.9% pull it right out.

Would you believe a reversed, sized casing did the trick? I do get lucky once in a while.

I had a case head separation in my bolt action 300 BLK the other day. None of the easy remedies like a bore brush would work. Finally plugged bore in front of the chamber/throat and poured in some melted pewter. The pewter in the throat was larger than the case neck and it drove out with a few taps of a cleaning rod.

GONRA's not sure its appropriate here, but sometimes one can CAREFULLY screw in a tap to grab the brass and pull it out.
(Helps to hava large selection of odd size taps on hand...)

Another help if you have the time is to soak in a aggressive copper removing solvent. This dissolves weakens the broken case loosening it up some. The tapping a thread when possible works well. Another if you have one is a broken shell extractor, insert it and hold pressure to keep engaged and lightly tap
