    10mm XDM

So, I've been tinkering a bit with my new Springfield XDM in 10mm. Cast up some RCBS 10mm-200-SWC bullets with #2 alloy and sized them at .401" (Felix lube). Shot 25 at the range and was very pleased with the accuracy (Chronographed 1,130 FPS). The problem was I got a fair amount of leading in the bore.

I know I have a few options: Get a wider sizer and shoot a fatter bullet. Use an even harder alloy (and/or heat treat). Try a gas check mold. Powder coat. Etc....

My initial inclination is to get a .402" sizer and go the fatter bullet route first.

What molds and alloys and you 10mm guys been successful with? Contemplating getting either a NOE 403-198-WFN or Accurate 40-200AG. (I'd like to keep the weight at around 200 gns)

How many rounds down the barrel? Springfield has a nice finish on their barrels but so does alot of other manufacturers and it usually takes 3-800 rounds for me to see it start to get better. My g20 kkm barrel is right @ 0.400 and is throated. I'm using a .0400 die and water dropped are coming out 0.4008

A couple ideas, slug the bore, bump up the charge alittle to increase pressure and tumble lube after sizing with Felix.

I'm using a water quenched NOE 403-197 which drops @ 198 grains .405/6 with COWW + some Sn. This mold is alittle fat but rains bullets and a MiHec 401-220 which drops right at .403

Have only shot less than 100 rounds of jacketed before shooting cast. Maybe a bit more break-in is in order. I have a .402 sizer in route from Lathesmith, so I can shoot a little fatter bullet. More experimentation in-bound.....

I shoot the Saeco 180 gr rnfp out of my G20 and G29 and zero leading using Lyman #2 alloy sized to .401 and no gas check.
Looking for Ideal mold 419181 (44 Evans Long)

What alloy will it slug up properly?

    Fit?

Can you actually clean strips of alloy from the barrel?

Lube? Soft is better for pistols at that velocity.

What size are they coming out of the mold? PC would be my next step if the new sizer doesn't do the trick. Beagling is also an option.

No, not strips of lead, but enough in the bore to be aggravating. The Felix lube I made is pretty soft.

Bullets dropping out .401 - .4015". Forgot about Beagling. I have done that successfully before. I am also set up to PC, so I could go that route as well.

That may be the best option.

My XDM loves the 200 WFN GC I suppose I do not see any leading because it’s a GC. Mine are all sized .401.
