    7.62x39mm loads, boolit weights, suggestions.....

I have an old bolt action that was rebarrelled into this caliber, and am looking for cast boolit suggestions for the rifle. It shoots factory steel cased stuff just fine, but I am looking to put this fun gun into use in some upcoming matches in my area that require lead boolits to be utilized.

The loads may be stuffed into either an AK or an AR (both in aforementioned caliber) so I am thinking gas checks will be needed.....OR if the load is too light to activate the gas system mechanics, make the appropriate comments in post.

    Thanks ahead of time!

I shoot 311410 Lyman out of a Howa bolt action. 2 inch groups at 100 yards. Really nice little rifle. I do have a mini 30 and sks. Got tired of chasing brass

Mine won't be throwing brass any farther than I care to, and the semi-auto comment was made as a friend may want to try some of my loads through his tools at a later date.

Bolts are much more interesting for this kind of playing around than a brass tbrower......

I use the lee 150 grain or what ever it is its 160 grain with my alloy. I use 20 grain of 4198 imr or hodgen seems to work great . Got deal on surplus powder wc844 but haven't tried it yet.

I cast Accurate 150T (plain base) and 150TG(gas checks). Blue dot and unique make good range fun loads and RX 7 in healthy doses make hunting bullets that drop deer and feral pigs in their tracks. I shoot these out of a RAR "Ranch" bolt action with 16" bbl.

I use the NOE Harris designed 168 gr in my alloy. Also a 202gr K31 bullet, even with the very underside nose it shoots very well. I am using RL7 and AA2230c, getting ready to try H4895. I am using a Ruger No1, so my load with the K31 bullet is too long to feed. I seat them both to contact the throat. The 168gr should be a good one in any normal chamber. Actually mine also shoots the RD 165 gr 3030 bullet, and 311041 just fine, gc is below the neck with both of those.

I am going to run these in a 1891 Argentine Mauser, so length really doesn't matter for feeding, just chamber fit.
