Question What was your first motorcycle?

I started off on a Honda Enduro.

That look on your face, when you shift into 6th gear, but it's not there.

'62 Cushman Super Eagle then a Honda 305 Scrambler. I had more fun on that Honda, streets, woods and trail riding, than any other vehicle I ever owned. I learned every mile of back road, dirt road, creekbed, river, every foot of railroad track, from the Alabama line across the southern most counties in Mississippi to Bay St. Louis. I also got away from cops sooooooo many times I would vanish before they even hit the lights. I think I was 19 maybe. I can still remember the sound of those long straight pipes, no other motorcycle sounded like a 305. I kept mine as long as I could still get parts for them but the only time you see one now is in a museum..

Yamaha Twin Jet 100. 9.9 hp, top end was 65 mph, but I managed to squeeze 80 mph out of it a couple of times. Once I sold it, never rode another bike again.

Mine was a 1962 Sears Allstate 250 CC 2 stroke. These were actually made by Puch in Germany, and were one of the earliest 2 strokes to have oil injection. I was 16 years old when I bought it, and rode it to high school when the weather allowed. I sold and re-bought it several times, also had a few minor wrecks with it. It just wouldn't die, and I had to weld the shift lever on when I couldn't get parts. The last guy that bought it from me had it in the bed of his pick up and the truck was stolen and wrecked. The bike was so badly damaged in that wreck that is was scraped.

Not counting the mini-bike with a hot rodded 2hp Briggs & Straton, it was a very abused 1972 Yamaha 650,
that I had a short while before trading it in a new '74 Yamaha 650 that I ended up riding in & out of 10 states.

I was 8 years old in 1973, and my Dad bought a Black Honda Supercub 50cc (just like in the stock photo) for me to ride in a grassy field behind our house. That field seemed like 600 acres in 1973...in reality, it was about 5 acres.

A Harley. I'd never ridden on one before and had the dealer deliver it to my house. We wheeled it up the front steps and put it in the front hallway. That was fifty years ago when I was young and didn't know any better. I ended up riding it down the front steps in neutral and then reading the owners manual and started it up and took it for a ride. I'm surprised I've lived this long.

A Hodaka 100 about 1971. Then a highly modded Hodaka Super Rat. Both bought with yard mowing money. I still keep the endorsement on my license but I haven't owned one since I gradated high school. It seems like riding a buddies street bike about once a year scratches the itch! But I'm like everyone else, if a Harley pulls up next to me at a light I look over at it with jealousy!
