I have a boresnake in my range bag I have yet to use.

I prefer a simple little cleaning tool called a crownsaver.
A simple braided line with a loop end inside a plastic cover with a T Handle.
Slips down any bore, even .177, slip a patch into the loop, add cleaner, oil, or my normal, ATF. Pull through once, discard, dry patch, repeat as needed.

Boresnake use is best for field use, in my opinion. Get some snow or dirt in the muzzle? Then the Boresnake comes out.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

when I try to wash the thing the part where hoppes was, it coagulates? and turns into some gross looking white paste and I have to squish it out cause it don't dissolve away
Suggest using Dawn 3X dish washing liquid. Squeeze the Dawn in with your fingers - rinse with hot water = Cleaner than a baby's cloth diaper ... works for me
    Regards
    John
