Question Which gas checks are you using on your Lee 6.5 Cruise Missile?

I finally have found and purchased a Lee 6.5 Cruise Missile mould to try in my 1896 Swedish military Mauser long rifle and wondered which gas checks people are using on them? Any particular brand or size of 6.5 gas check work better than others on this particular boolit (since there seems to be some variations)? Many thanks in advance ...

    Hi Rev Al!
I've been using Sage, and I'm very happy with them. Shamus Sage developed some thick and taller GC to use on slightly undersized shanks. I cast an NOE 266-140 FN in #2 Lyman and the shank is just a wee bit small. Standard Gator checks work okay, but have slipped off, even after sizing. I tried some of the undersized checks from Sage in both Al and Cu, and they work great. Here are links to their website. Hope this helps. Ed

Well i would cast a few and measure the shank sages sells two sizes one for .252 and one for .250 shanks. I didn't realize there were two and bought the wrong ones .

OK, thanks for the tips! I received a few boolits cast from the mould with it so I'll measure the shank on those and see what diameter they are.

Sage's aluminum checks. They work great.

I've used some of their aluminum checks in .30 and 8mm and they both worked great ...

not to be indifferant but do you really need cheks for that long beast? I cannot get mine going fast enough to need checks if I want accuracy.

Well, maybe not. Just the way I roll. If it was designed to take a check, I always put one on it.

Hornady 6.5mm gas checks for everything . I've never had any luck with Lee Cruise Missile in Swedes or Norwegian Krags
