Just got a Fast Fire III recently for a Smith 69. Haven't had time to shoot it much. +1 on learning to find the dot. My dot also looks a bit blobish to me. Maybe something needs cleaning?

The "blobish" is your eyes, not the dot. Anyone with any astigmatism or very early on-set cataracts will have some minor distortion in what they see. It's not really of any concern. I see a distorted dot and it hasn't effected my grouping at all. I just keep it consistent in how I cover the target. IE: it doesn't have to be perfectly round. One gentleman I know of took a picture of the dot and in the picture with his glasses on it looked perfectly round.
