    Odd mold ID

Saw this mold that looks like blank mold for nose pour or something. Has anyone seen something like this before?

I added it to my watch list early in the listing. I think it is a core mould for old half jackets.

Not sure what mould it is or who made it. But it is interesting in a couple aspects. 1) most moulds with double plates are nose pour with the cavity thru the blocks. 2) the cavities appear to be round inserts bolted in place. 3) the handles and blocks appear to be one piece. I'm betting on a one off made by a machinist for swaging or muzzle loader

sizes of the cast slug and a better pic of the inside would be interesting

Could be one of two mold set used to cast a two piece bullet for one of the old slug gun muzzle loaders. One mold would cast one half of a bullet and the other would cast the other section. They would be assembled then put into a two piece swaging setup and hit with a hammer to physically join the two pieces together. Frank

Depending on the length of the bullet, it could be smooth for a paper patch; it looks the vintage.
