I had a post 64 that was d&t(factory) for a reciever sight. It came mounted with a scope in a KwikSight side mount that used those holes and the bolt/ lever pin plug screw hole. If it's done neatly for a Redfield or Lyman I would buy it at the best price I could haggle.

I got a fair price on a 94 the other day. The owner thought it had been drilled and tapped but it was factory and had a side mount for a scope. The problem is that someone thought they could make the stock look better by carving it. It's a standard pre 64 carbine that has it share of hard use but function very good. A blue job and new wood would make it look good but then I would still have a rifle that was only worth $400-$500. Thinking of making it into something different like a rifle in 38-55 with a 28" barrel. I'm in to it for less than $200 now.
I got it all for $750. It turns out that he had just shy of 15 boxes of factory loaded 25-35 and a small handful of once-fired brass to go along with the 94. He wouldnt give me a price so I offered the $750 and he jumped on it real quick. Probably could have got it cheaper but he is a retired surveyor from my local area and has done well for himself and his family and wanted it to go to a good home. It has a great home now!

"Joined Dates" are deceiving if you factor-in "lurk" dates.
You did good! The ammo alone is worth $300 or so. How about pics?

Great buy with all the ammo.
I think you did great. Nothing wrong with that gun from what I can see and look at all that ammo! Thanks for sharing.

All this has got me to wonder about a Lever rifle I have:
Savage 99, dated 1932, Deluxe PG, lightweight takedown, cal 250 savage.
It has a classic Paul Yeager quick detach side mount/rings for scope. (Of course D&T on the left side
of receiver for the mount), And two plugged D&T holes at about "10:30" on left side of barrel near receiver.
Bore is VG to Exlt; other than the holes, its probably 85% overall. Good Wood.
Shot into 1 1/4" at 100 yds with 100 gr deer load while wearing a Leo 2-7 scope.
Also got 5boxes of factory ammo and several boxes of brass with it.
What it should be worth for this classic deer rifle?

the holes, the holes. Without them I would suspect that would be a very in-demand rifle. With the holes... you are in the same boat as I am in. If you needed to sell it I would think $600+/- only because the 250-3000 was one of the rarer calibers. I have always wanted a Savage 99 in 25-35 and to this day it still eludes me. I know a guy that has one but he is tighter than bark to a tree and will most likely be buried in his canvas on wood penn yan boat with all his leverguns at his side. I aint kidding.

Nice looking shooter. Range report would be awesome
Cool man, a gun with history. I like guns that have a story to tell.
