It would be cheaper to have someone do the work with their tools then buy used tools and take a chance of messing things up...can't put metal back on....

A lot of cylinders have the chamber right up to the edge of the ratchet, you won't find a counterbore that will cut a nice chamfer if this is the case. These have to be done totally by hand. Full size Ruger you have plenty of meat to work with and an 82 degree center drill will work. Then you use a cratex rubber burr in a dremel tool to polish it up. By now you are farther invested in the tools than I ask for my services.
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? A lot of people would buy the tools do there revolvers and then sell the tools. How many you need to do?

+1 for DougGuy on cylinder work. He has a second cylinder from me to work on just now. He knows his stuff, and his prices seem very reasonable to me.

looking to do the two rugers I have, then hang on to them for future guns. meant todo so long ago but never did.

I was expecting to do the job entirely by hand.

I'll have to look into what Douguy does, though i'd like to learn how to do it myself.
