Cant use timber here where I live ,the termites would chew it up over night ,every tree in the bush is hollowed out , leave a piece of 4x2 on the ground and it will be hollowed out leaving a paper thin out side skin .Nice job though .

Does any one have an idea on how much ventilation I'll need when casting?
I use a turkey fryer for heat and cast from a cast iron pot that holds 30-40 Lbs.

I have found a fan that will do 240 CFPM and I have a stove hood I'm going to place close over the pot.
If I put these together will I get enough air moved if I duct it outside?
I use a Hurricane brand 8" inline fan for ventilation, I bought it used ( as new) for $45 a lot of the weed growers around here are getting out of the business due to the falling prices, and stuff like this can be found very cheap. You might want to check your local Craigslist for fans and duct.

The fan has 745cfm and gives me a complete air change in about 1.5min. I vented mine straight out the wall and plug it into a outlet connected to a dimmer to control speed. total was about $100. With my setup I can bake powder coat inside with no smell at all. I also use sawdust/pitch for fluxing lead and have never had a problem with the smoke.
