I bought a SOCOM first then some years later picked up a BM. Hog hunted successfully with both the BM was already “taken” by one of my friends that doesn’t reload before I finally decided to sell it to him.

I’m happy reloading for the socom and he’s happy with buying factory for the BM.

I went 450 bushmaster because I can use it in Iowa, its legal there to shoot straight wall pistol cartridges chambered in rifles for deer hunting. I decided to buy it in a bolt platform not an AR, the Ruger American. Bolt actions can take way more pressure than ARs. I was able to push 300 grain cast bullets at Max 460 Smith and Wesson velocities in my Ruger American bolt action with no signs of casing pressure...but the gun literally vibrated apart from excessive recoil.
