That is the mold that works well for me with 700X. This is the one that I have had good results with Titegroup:

I haven't had the mold long, so I haven't had a chance to work up loads with many other powders yet. I want to see how it does with the slower powders. The MP with a lube groove is really similar to the Bayou 147s that have been good to me with healthy charge of Blue Dot.

Talk to DougGuy here. He did my Canik's throat and crown cut the end of the barrel as well. Canik's barrels are not hardened because I know Doug was asking me that too.

Oh, I'll talk to him. He gave me the impression he wasn't sure if they were hardened or not.

He does many barrels from my understanding and he probably forgot but he did my SFXs barrel few months back. As far as I know he didnt have any problems.

Here’s an old discussion that originally stirred up my interest in using 358.158.RF in 9mm.

Sorry I don’t know how to do an internal thread link.

Ok so I’m normally reluctant to share this data, as it is a max loading with a 158gr swc in 9mm. but it’s has been shot it in my Ruger p89 for over 20 years, with no problems. I recently loaded some up and had a friend with billeted chamber inserts for a 12g. if you choose to chase these results please be carful, as it is very hot load, probably in th +p or +p+ range ok that being said here we go.

So it’s that boolit there loaded over a federal small magnum pistol primer and 5.5 of blue dot powder to a col of 1.125 my dads records state that he achieved 1100fps in a 5” p89 my tests with just a standard primer gave result of 1050 in my tests with the chamber insert and a 7.5l barrel with the magnum primer reached a blistering 1350fps with 680ft/lb of energy

Should you choose to try this I can’t stress enough that you should work up to it using your methods until you achieve results you want but be careful and watch for pressure sine as I said this is in the +p or +p+ range witch the p89 is rated for

So have fun and be safe

Is your 9 mm crimp just a hair above the roll crimp groove on the lee 158 RF?

Thank you for the additional link. You really invested a good bit of time in your data work up.

After seeing this thread, I decided to cast and load some heavy 9mm boolits and give them a run through my pistol.
I cast these from range scrap and water dropped them from the mold.
The hardness will be somewhere between 12 and 14 BHN.
I loaded some 358212 boolits(weight 147 grains), sized to .357, and lubed with NRA 50-50 from White Label. Powder was 3.5 grains of Bullseye. OAL was 1.130". Mixed brass.
I ran them through my Springfield Armory Range Officer today. All ran perfectly.
Here are the results of forty shots. Fired at 12 yards.

If you are ever blessed to run across one Lyman 358416 get it. It is the ultimate heavy weight to fit 9mm. Long obsolete 158gr. RNFP made for 38 s&w its just a heavy 358212. Fits just enough in 9mm case and nose is tapered just enough to fit most non-existant 9mm throats on carbines. You get the same velosities as most 147gr., a heck of a suppresor round and thumps most things you hit with it.

I’m loading the lee 358-158-swc over 3.5 grains of unique at 1.09oal. They shoot great out of my Glock 19. I’m seriously thinking of having my ruger pc carbine throated because they won’t even chamber in it, and I would like to shoot them in it.

I’ve always read that casting anything over 150gr causes issues with the oal on 9mm; that it doesn’t leave enough room for powder.

You just need to reduce the powder charge accordingly.
A lot depends on how the boolit is designed. Find a design where the boolit has a lot of weight in the nose.
