    Older scope info

Afternoon: been looking at older scopes, is there any place, website , book something that has info on older scopes, i.e... junk stay away from or good hunting scope for the price , good buy ... just seems like the low end ones today are 100$ and decent ones are more thinking there are some good scopes out there that there's no one wants because there are considered vintage but are great scopes

There is very little out there that is accurate. Good scopes include: Weaver (El Paso), Leupold, Redfield (Denver), Lyman, Unertl, Kollmorgen & Bausch&Lomb. I deal in these, so if have specific questions, pls PM me and I'll try to help.

Those mentioned can all be good choices. Pretty hard to go wrong with an older Leupold. I've never had a bad one, and if you do, Leupold will make it good with their lifetime guarantee.
I also have lots of Weavers, Lymans, Burris, Redfields, Bausch&Lomb, and Kollmorgens (26mm tube, so you have to be mindful that some of the early scopes were not 1" and will require non-standard rings; most of the early European scopes also had 26mm or larger tubes)

I always try to pair older guns with an age correct scope. A big newer scope on an a classic older rifle just doesn't look right.

Steel Weavers and the Bausch & Lomb BAL*** series with the double-cone mounts.
