    23gr. Green Dot Slug load

With a Polyformed Winchester hull, 1oz Lee key drive, CB1114 wad and 23gr. Green Dot I have found a lighter kicker and quite accurate slug load. They feed, fire and function just fine. They were shot through a rifle sighted barrel and a bead sighted barrel.

Wondering if you have photos or comments on distance shooting with your load.

Any More on this ? like to know more about any Green Dot Load. I use something similar at 20.5 gr of GD for all my trap loads and slug loads built on those trap loads.

    Randy:

You have probably seen it but Slugs R Us lists a reduced recoil load for their SPW slug (490 grs.) using Cheddite hulls and 17 grs. of Green Dot for 1050 FPS load. That should work with a Lee 1 oz. slug too with adjusted wad column height. It would likely give a little higher velocity with the lighter payload. I think Green Dot would be fast enough not to create a blooper with the lighter payload. Something I can't say about Unique with a Lee 7/8 oz. slug! Oops!

It was around 30 yards and 11 slugs. I have a pic on my phone, but it works sometimes uploading, and other times it doesn't on this site.

This was with a Remington Factory rifle sighted smooth bore Imp Cyl barrel.
The outer ring of slugs was the 36gr. HS6 load that is pretty stout. Inner was Green Dot.

Randy: Here's a little more with Green Dot. Last range outing I broke three clays in a row (sitting on the bank, not flying. LOL) at forty yards with this load stack. Rio 3" Hull- Rio Primer- 28gr. Green Dot- 1 20ga. .125 Nitro card- BPI HCD#21 wad- 1 20ga. .125 Nitro card- 1 1/4" fiber wad .662 RB PC'd with a clear plastic overshot card roll crimped. This isn't any sort of published load so if you use it be aware of that fact. Fired from my rifled barreled Pardner Tracker II Plus Recoil was a lot less than 40gr Blue Dot loads and brass showed no pressure marks. I'll load up a few more and try them on a real target soon. Gp

Thanks GP. My standard Pumpkin Ball load is .662 RB with 21 gr of GD in regular WAA12 wad with a 1/4" Felt wad under the ball, fold crimp.

I'm more about the low recoil of the Pumpkin Balls they are around 420 gr. They ring a steel target nicely which is about all they are required to do.
